Yet Another Swap August 31, 2006

Filed under: Uncategorized — knottyk @ 10:29 pm

Here is the link for a simple and small swap. I signed up since it’ll take little effort and looks fun and October is just one of those blah months that needs a little pick-me-up. Go check it out!

I just can’t bring myself to sign up for Secret Pal 9. SP 8 was great, please don’t get me wrong, but with SP 9 I would also be getting Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, a 3 day La Leche League conference, Colten’s 7th birthday, Halloween, Veteran’s Day, Thanksgiving, Haunakah, Christmas swaps, Christmas itself, and all the knitting for presents. It’s just a bit too much for this time of year. 🙂 Maybe round 10.

Finally, a pic of my SP package! The yarn is a beautiful periwinkle color and soft. The boys are really enjoying the candies on the right, and the clear envelope with the “KB” sticker did have some really yummy chocolate with pecans and raisins. My SP gathered these things from Australia on her trip and brought them back for me! Isn’t that just the sweetest? Thanks Micheala

Here is the second installment of Sundara Yarn Petals Collection: Hydrangea. I know at least one person who will be drooling over this and will probably try to steal it if she comes over. 🙂 The sock pattern to go with it has a bias spiral leg. Now if I could just get my act together to knit the first Petals Collection socks!

BS Monday #2 August 28, 2006

I don’t know about the rest of you, but I’m burned out on war news. I saw this bumper sticker a couple of months ago down near my hometown and I almost chased the car down to ask where they got it. Please note that it has been slightly edited so that it’s a little less offending.

My (no longer) Secret Pal August 24, 2006

Filed under: Uncategorized — knottyk @ 2:37 am

SP 8 listed the blogs… so the children weren’t fighting for a minute and I systematically went down my group’s list. I found my secret pal, she’s here. Send some lovin’ her way, her kitty’s in a cast and she’s a worried mama.

No BS Monday this week, obviously. We went to Lake Chelan for a weekend and ended up with a tummy bug that ran through the family (no pun intended). Monday was my day to be a couch zombie and wish I would die. I’ll put pics up later, including the only bright point of my Monday, my secret pal’s package! Yarn, chocolate, and candy for the kids… what more could a gal ask for?

BS Monday #1 August 14, 2006

I have decided to make Monday a BS day. Not the regular BS you’re thinking of! BS = Bumper Sticker. Living in the Seattle area, I drive a lot on the freeways and I see many interesting bumper stickers and licence plate frames. I thought it was time to share them. No button to go with them, unless someone would like to make me one.

Bumper sticker of the week:

I have a perfect body
but it’s in the trunk and starting to smell.

Baa Baa blanc* Sheep August 13, 2006

Filed under: Uncategorized — knottyk @ 8:59 pm

Isn’t this just the cutest? I stitched it from a $2 kit I got at Walmart for my SP and I just had to show everyone. I know it’s a bit cheesy and girly, but I couldn’t resist the bee and the curls on the sheep! *Blanc is “white” in French. It’s one of the few words I remember from high school French.

Lawn Tractor Skiing August 8, 2006

Filed under: Uncategorized — knottyk @ 3:51 am

Excuse me?! WHAT did you just say? Oh, yes, I said lawn tractor skiing. My 6-year-old is trying out water skiing for the second summer in a row and we (we being his father and his grandfather) decided that to get him used to the speed of the boat pulling him that we would tie the ski rope to the tractor and pull him behind. I don’t have pics, unfortunately. I didn’t have my camera with me, my mother-in-law’s battery was dead, and my father-in-law didn’t know where his was. Nobody got hurt and the kid is in one piece.

This is Trice and the pattern can be found here. She was a birthday present for a two-year-old cousin. She looks very lovely, but very pink. But she did the trick and made the recipient happy and whittled down some more stash.
I tried to make it look like she has eyelashes. I hope she doesn’t look too freaky.

How does this work? August 1, 2006

This is what a 3-year-old trying to get a life jacket on over a wetsuit looks like.

Exhibit A: Put lifejacket on.
Exhibit B: How do these thingys work?!
Exhibit C: I did it all by myself!
In the event that he was actually going to use this life jacket, we would be latching it or at least trying to help him latch it. He got a little off in his buckles. 🙂
